He teaches Hatha Yoga in the style of B.K.S. Iyengar. His class is informative and engaging with clear and precise instruction focusing on posture and body alignment. It is open to people of all ages and abilities. The use of props or supports allows people with limited abilities or confidence to start practicing yoga and progress.
On a personal level yoga has helped Bernard overcome, and in some cases cure, his own afflictions and injuries related to a lifelong career as a craftsman, builder and outdoorsman. Yoga has been described as an art, practice, discipline, science and philosophy. Bernard believes it is all of that and more: It is a true gift to humanity and allows oneself to retain or regain flexibility and feel great in body and mind.
David Larot is a bay area native who began his practice in 2002. Having experienced the benefits of yoga, he had found the missing link to his active lifestyle which had taken its toll on his body for so many years. In 2004 he started leading classes under the guidance of his teacher. It was an unexpected calling but nonetheless he found a new passion. "I enjoy guiding people to that deeper sense of themselves, taking that whole awareness and bringing it into their daily lives." In 2008 David enrolled in the 200hr teacher training intensive at Yoga Works SF. He was so inspired that he continued his studies and in 2010 completed his 500hrs under his mentor Nikki Estrada. Having practiced and trained in various disciplines including Iyengar, Ashtanga and Vinyasa, David brings a safe but dynamic flow to the mat consisting of effective sequencing, awareness of breath and proper alignment. David is a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance at the 500hr level.
